The Sonoma County Department of Health Services is responsible for protecting the health of the public by administering state and federal programs, developing and implementing local programs and policies, convening various community coalitions, and supporting the health care system. local health. The Department accomplishes its mission by promoting upstream practices; prevention, recovery and wellness; developing policies and services; build community capacity; and promote advocacy and education. Currently, the Department contracts with the Department of Probation to provide medical and behavioral health services at juvenile detention facilities, including Juvenile Hall and the Probation Camp. Additionally, the Department contracts with the Department of Social Services to provide medical services to the Valley of the Moon Children’s Home (VOMCH).
The Department invites proposals from clinical health care organizations that focus on pediatric and adolescent care, but also encompass specialty care such as OBGYN, Medication Assisted Therapy (MAT) services for disorders related to opioid use and psychiatric services, to provide medical director services and potentially mid-level services to Juvenile Hall, Probation Camp and VOMCH.
The living wage rate required under the county’s Living Wage Ordinance (LWO) has increased. Effective January 1, 2022, the required living wage rate under the LWO will be $16.75 per hour, an increase from the previous $15.00 per hour. The adjustment was passed by the County Board of Supervisors on December 14, 2021, pursuant to Sonoma Municipal Code Section 2-377(d). All covered employees must be paid at least the plus living wage rate.
